The Public Theater’s mission is to produce live professional theater that inspires, educates, and connects communities. The organization’s objective is to produce high quality theatrical productions year-round in multiple venues contributing to its as well as the city’s annual financial and cultural growth. The Public Theater seeks a skilled individual for a full-time Assistant Technical Director position to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD or Vectorworks software and will be skilled in carpentry and in drafting. The qualified candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in technical theater, possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and excel at leading and supervising a crew. Reporting to the Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director plays a key role on The Public Theater’s team in both mid-level leadership and support.
The principal purpose of this position is to support the Technical Director in creating safe, high quality technical elements for all productions.
This position is new at our theater, and we are seeking a candidate who is passionate about the process of transforming arts organizations for the better. Under new Executive Artistic Director, Claudia de Vasco, the company is working to not only improve the culture of the theater - from the HR policies to the way capacity, conflict management, and work life balance is approached - but also implement many of the ideas that have arisen nationally as American Theatre has begun addressing its historic practices of exclusion, prejudice, inequity, etc. We are seeking members for our team who want to go on that journey with us, who bring ideas, who understand anti-racist cultural expectations, and who care about working with BIPOC leadership making an effort towards transformation at a historically PWI.

Compensation and Benefits
The Public offers an annual salary of $40,000, and a competitive benefits package that includes paid holidays and vacation, employer contributions to medical insurance, and access to dental and vision insurance as well as a 403-B retirement plan.
